Africa’s largest and only national zoo is very popular with animals lovers. The zoo naturally focuses primarily on African wildlife. There’s a couple of aviaries, multiple ape enclosures for chimpanzees, baboons and monkeys. There’s a separate section for some of the smaller carnivores like cheetahs. There’s even an Australian Outback section for kangaroos, emus and ostriches. Further inside are the bigger wildcats, ibexes and zebras. The western section of the zoo has a reptile house. The zoo isn’t heavily promoted, so tourists often figure they’ll be done quickly. They are so wrong. The zoo is massive, so much so, that even on a golf cart, it takes almost four hours to cover all the exhibits. Also don’t miss the cable car that transverses high above the zoo.
